Research shows stretch of road in Florida high in car accidents

Florida drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians should be aware that there are certain roads that are more dangerous than others. Research examines which roadways can be particularly risky to those who use them. Discovering why this is the case and taking steps to reduce the number of car accidents, truck accidents and other crashes on the road is vital to making certain that these incidents decrease. While it is known how dangerous some roads can be, a recent study states that one specific road is the worst in the nation.

Interstate 4 connecting several Florida cities -- Daytona Beach, Orlando and Tampa -- is designated as the one with the highest risk. It has a greater number of deaths than it does miles. The company that did the study, Teletrac Navman, listed the top 25 interstates in the U.S. in terms of their danger. They used federal statistics from 2011 to 2015 to come to their conclusions with fatalities and total miles as the barometer. Interstate 4 has 1.25 fatalities for every mile.

People who use the road frequently say how it can be worrisome because of the merging, curves, cars going on and off and more. The section that goes through Orlando is the worst of the areas on Interstate 4. Overall, Central Florida had 58 fatal accidents for 2015 and 2016. In 2017, there have been 21 to date. According to law enforcement, the fatal crashes are due to drivers who are speeding and distracted more than the road itself.

Florida drivers undoubtedly hear how risky it is to use the state roadways. They might not be fully knowledgeable as to just how problematic the statistics are. When there is a car crash, there can be major issues for the victim and his or her family. This is true whether there is a wrongful death or injuries. Medical costs can skyrocket, the person can be unable to work or contribute to the household and major life changes will take place. When there is a crash with injuries or fatalities, those who were affected should make certain they are protected with assistance from a personal injury attorney.
