Danger of bicycle and pedestrian accidents shown as rider dies

Florida is a state in which it is necessary to find an efficient way to get around. Many people prefer to walk or ride bicycles as this can improve fitness and save money. However, there are fundamental dangers with choosing this strategy. Given the number of vehicles on the road in the state and that driving is a necessary evil, there will be vehicles for riders and walkers to dodge. Some drivers are reckless, do not pay attention to the road, are under the influence and more. This can cause a crash with personal injury and wrongful death. After a crash, the person who was hurt and the family of a person who was killed must know their rights to consider a lawsuit for compensation.

A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash with a car. The accident occurred at shortly before 4 a.m. near the exit ramp of the interstate. The victim, 45, was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, a Mercedes, fled. The vehicle was found the next day. It had damage to its front. The driver, a 44-year-old man, turned himself in and was placed under arrest for various charges including leaving the scene of a fatal accident. It is not yet known whether the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash. The investigation is continuing.

Bicyclists and pedestrians are inherently vulnerable to severe injuries and fatalities in car accidents. They are not accorded any protections as a person who is in another vehicle would be and that often leads to catastrophic injuries. Even if a bicyclist or pedestrian does not die in the crash, that vulnerability can lead to spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and long lasting damage that can be costly financially and personally. The person might not be able to work and will need assistance and medical care all day, every day. Given the numerous issues that can accompany this type of accident, a lawsuit might be the only way to cover all the costs.

In this crash, a bicyclist died when a Mercedes hit him and fled the scene. Although law enforcement catching the alleged driver might give the bicyclist's family some solace, that is not enough to help them get beyond all they have lost. Discussing a possible lawsuit with an experienced attorney can guide them through the process of seeking compensation on a legal filing.
