19-year-old man killed in head-on crash

Even the most cautious drivers in Fort Lauderdale can be vulnerable to the unexpected when out on the road. Some issues are uncontrollable, like the weather or an unexpected mishap. Others happen because of another's lack of concern and outright recklessness. With car accidents, there can be numerous outcomes.

If the people involved are lucky, they will escape with no injuries or minor injuries. In other cases, they suffer severe personal injury. In a worst-case scenario, there can be a wrongful death.

For example, recently, a head-on collision claimed the life of a 19-year-old man. The investigation states that a 27-year-old woman in a 2011 BMW was passing other vehicles. A 29-year-old man in a 2015 Jeep saw the BMW heading in his direction and drove onto the shoulder to avoid it. He escaped with only damage to a rear tire. But, the vehicle behind him, driven by the 19-year-old, was not as fortunate. It is believed that he did not see the car. The vehicles crashed head-on and the 19-year-old died. The woman driving the BMW suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized.

Any fatal car accident can carry with it terrible consequences, but people often overlook background factors. The person who died might have been a major contributor to a family in some way as a parent, a sibling or a child. Their loss can cause a negative chain of events in a personal, emotional and financial way.

First, there will be the funeral costs. Then, the reality of the situation will hit home and the loss will be felt more acutely. Insurers will try to make a settlement offer to get the case behind them and control costs. Some families will accept this offer not realizing the scope of their loss and eventually regret it. This is when legal advice is vital.

In this accident, it is believed that the driver of the BMW was recklessly trying to pass others on the road and ran into the opposite lane. One driver managed to avoid her, while another did not. As the investigation continues, the family of the man who died must make certain they protect themselves and their interests by discussing a possible legal case with an experienced attorney as soon as possible.
