Security worker suffers wrongful death when gate falls on him

When people in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, leave their homes, even in the most dangerous jobs, the last thing they are thinking is of a workplace accident. These accidents can happen, and it is an unfortunate reality in any job. In some instances, they lead to personal injury. In others, they lead to a wrongful death. Those who have lost a loved one need to be aware of everything they will need to handle after the accident and have a full investigation into the incident to prepare for a potential legal filing.

For example, recently, a man working security at a fairground was killed when a gate fell on him. The accident occurred at 6 in the morning. The guard opened the gate to let a car in and as it was being closed, it fell on top of him.

A witness said the man was pleading for help and crying after the accident. He later died. Law enforcement and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating.

In the aftermath, there will be the funeral and its accompanying costs. If the person needed medical treatment before the death, there will be medical costs. Lost income, lost companionship and pain and suffering will all come to the forefront.

To keep costs in line, insurance companies will frequently try to settle the case before litigation begins. People who are unaware of the costs or do not know how insurers operate often make the mistake of accepting an offer that is nowhere near enough to cover for what they have lost.

In this accident, a man died when a gate fell on him as he worked. This could be a premises liability case, in which the owner was negligent in maintaining the property. There could have been some other error made that led to the accident. Regardless, it is important for his family to have assistance in considering a legal case as soon as possible.
