Teen suffers wrongful death in hit-and-run motorcycle crash

Florida roadways can be dangerous, particularly for those who are not in a standard automobile. This applies to motorcyclists, bicyclists, pedestrians and those partaking in other activities such as jogging or skateboarding. When there is a crash between a vehicle and a person who is not protected by being in a vehicle, there can be severe injuries and even death. For those who have been hurt or lost a loved one in this type of a crash, a personal injury lawsuit is often necessary to recover compensation for medical costs and other damages.

A 15-year-old Orlando boy was killed recently when he was hit by a motorcycle. The boy was said to have been skateboarding at around 3:00 a.m. when the motorcycle hit him. The 35-year-old motorcyclist fled the scene, but was later caught. According to witnesses, the motorcyclist hit the teen and left his bike at the scene as he took off on foot. The teen was knocked out of his shoes and declared dead at the hospital.

The man was said to be openly looking for a place to hide and said that he did not want to be held responsible for what happened. He was later found by two brothers who were on the scene in the aftermath of the accident. They told law enforcement where he was and the man was arrested. According to witnesses, the motorcyclist showed signs of being intoxicated. He was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an accident in which there was a fatality and law enforcement is waiting for the results of toxicology tests.

There are many issues that will come up after people have suffered wrongful death in bicycle and pedestrian accidents. This is especially egregious when it is a young person who is just starting out in his or her life. The emotional, personal and financial ramifications of an untimely death in an accident can be overwhelming. The family of a young person who died needlessly in an accident should make sure to understand their rights to be compensated. A lawyer can help with the investigation, gathering evidence and taking the necessary steps to file a case.
