Construction worker suffers personal injury after fall

Construction work is a source of employment for many in Fort Lauderdale, and there are a vast number of projects that are planned or in progress that will always need workers. Building is undoubtedly a benefit to the city and state. However, that does not eliminate the reality that many construction jobs are dangerous. They involve using large vehicles, carting heavy equipment, operating tools and working at great heights. Unfortunately, there will be construction accidents. The aftereffects can vary from moderate to severe to fatal. Those who were injured in a construction accident or lost a loved one in a personal injury or wrongful death incident may want to know how to seek compensation.

A luxury condominium that is under construction had an accident in which a worker fell three stories. The accident occurred at around 9:30 a.m. and the fall was approximately 30 feet. The man was taken to the hospital. A member of the fire department stated that the man was injured so seriously that his life is in jeopardy. The initial investigation states that the man, working for a subcontractor, was wearing his harness and other equipment designed for safety. He was in the process of moving construction materials when the fall happened. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is in the process of investigating.

People who work in construction are often forgotten for the contribution they make to society. Their jobs take a physical toll and carry with them a significant amount of risk. When there is an accident with injuries, these workers may pursue workers' compensation, but that is sometimes not sufficient to adequately compensate them. They could miss substantial time at work, need extensive hospital treatment including surgery and rehabilitation and perhaps more. There could be brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and worse, a fatality. Having legal help is key to pursuing a case.

In this incident, a man fell from a construction project and suffered injuries that are deemed to be life-threatening. For those who have been injured on a construction site whether it was falling from a scaffolding, being hit with a piece of equipment, suffering injury while working on a vehicle, being in a collapsed trench and more, it is wise to have legal advice and an investigation with the victim's interests in mind.
